Charlie and Sarah: Why she's moving out

Five months after Charlie O'Connell gave Sarah Brice a three-diamond, pave-set promise ring on the final episode of The Bachelor, the young couple are living together in L.A. -- although she's actually looking for her own apartment.

"I want to keep my independence," Sarah tells Inside TV. "I know I could spend the rest of my life with Charlie, but we don't want to rush into anything."

Charlie, 30, and Sarah, 25, seem to be settling into a more traditional courtship now that the reality-TV cameras are off. This summer, the couple spent a month living at Charlie's family vacation home in Montauk, N.Y. After that, they moved to L.A., where Sarah took a job delivering babies as a nurse at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Until she finds her own place, she is crashing at Charlie's: a bachelor pad he has owned for eight years, downstairs from his famous brother, Jerry O'Connell of Crossing Jordan.

After living together for just a month, Sarah has already whipped messy Charlie into shape.

"He's a pack rat!" she says. "There were bottles from 1983 and 30 toothbrushes in the bathroom! I threw away a ton of crap."

She also trained Charlie to do the laundry and housework. "Now it's my job!" he tells Inside TV. The aspiring actor also has to walk Sarah's tiny King Charles Cavalier spaniel, Lucy--sometimes as often as five times a day. Once, while the couple were staying in Montauk, Sarah made Charlie take Lucy for a walk while the dog was wearing a puppy-sized dress.

"I really didn't feel comfortable with that," Charlie admits, with a laugh. "People were waving, going, 'Hey Charlie! Nice dress!' "

Charlie has been traveling for work, as a spokesman for Lily of France's new True Match bra and more recently in Canada, playing a giant squid(!) in the Sci Fi network movie Deadly Waters. But he can't wait to get home to his sweetheart.

Clearly, Sarah has tamed Charlie--and he couldn't be happier about it.

"She makes me feel special," he says. "I like doing things for her."
